Late to the Party, but Dressed to Slay – Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Outfits

I know, I’m ~180 friendship bracelets late to the Eras Tour party, but is time really real in the Taylor Swift multiverse? I think not!

Now that I’ve emerged from a cave of procrastination, let’s talk Swift tour fashion. I’m taking a bit of an unconventional approach, breaking looks down not by era, but by color:

While I’d love to say that I’ve been to many a show, I haven’t so please kindly note that concert photos, unless otherwise stated, are not mine.

Pink Eras outfits

Every time I see this pastel bodysuit, I’m brought back to the cinematic show opener: the growing screams of the crowd, the dancers emerging with pleated parachute fans, the one and only Miss Taylor rising from center stage like a flower. It’s a stunning dream sequence, with outfits to match.

Throughout the tour, she donned an impressive number of gowns in different shades of pink:

Interestingly (but not surprisingly), some looks give Barbie vibes. Taylor Swift is real-life Pop Star Barbie, through and through.

Yellow and orange (“citrus”) Eras outfits

This section is all about the yellows and oranges – what I call Taylor’s “citrus” looks.

While I’m not a fan of the 1989 fashion, you can tell she had fun coordinating sporty sets for that era:

Ever the queen of the quick change, Taylor brought flowing looks to center stage with the following dresses. After studying them for an embarrassing amount of time, I still can’t tell if the first cottagecore dress and the second cottagecore dress are exactly the same, and simply manifest differently under changing stage lights. Either way, they’re stunners and I’d happily have both (and the cape) in my wardrobe!

Bonus time! Get a load of this fearless fringe gold dress (pun absolutely intended).

Green Eras outfits

Green didn’t feature as much as other colors on the tour, but for the outfits we did get to see, Taylor kept it simple with solid monochrome looks.

Who wouldn’t gravitate towards this emerald shade? It suits her so complexion beautifully (and I get the sense that she knows it too)!

I hate to say it, but this other dress reminds me of Kermit the Frog because of the shade. And that missing patch in the stomach area ain’t doing no one favors. A redeeming quality is the sheer cape hanging off the shoulders. (Maybe it’s a phase, but I’m truly a sucker for capes.)

Blue Eras outfits

Bodysuits, ballgowns, beachy looks – Taylor pulled out all the stops for blue! By now, you’ve probably noticed a pattern in the structure and form of certain outfits.

A standout piece is the Midnights corseted and fringed bodysuit, detailed with a crescent moon and (pay close attention!) stars. Taylor debuted this piece in London, which must have been well past 100 shows by that point. Kudos to her for keeping it fresh for fans worldwide!

Purple Eras outfits

You’d think blue is Taylor’s preferred color, but just wait until you see the game she brought for purple. The many shades here undoubtedly fit the diverse eras.

To start, the gowns are undoubtedly ethereal and romantic, ranging from dusty lavender to pale lilac to mauve.

The two-piece ensembles show a spicier side of Taylor, tapping into rich berry and royal purple shades. She revisits rich berry with her “Surprise Song” dress; much like the emerald version of the same dress, it suits her well!

As for the last row above, she paired a deep plum bodysuit with a shimmery iridescent jacket (left) and a lilac sequined dress with an electric lavender fur coat (right).

All in all, Miss Swift showed purple a ton of love!

Black Eras outfits (featuring red looks!)

While you might immediately associate romantic pastel looks with Speak Now, several of Taylor’s red and black looks align squarely with the Red and Reputation eras. Think the classic black fedora with the white tee, or the one-legged black bodysuits criss-crossed by snakes (all pictured below).

One of my favorite combos might just be black with gold and silver. On paper, it sounds a little strange. But be it The Man suit or an iconic Fearless fringe dress, Taylor makes the palette work for multiple eras without missing a beat. After all, didn’t she tell us, she’s lightning on her feet? ⚡

Silver and white Eras outfits

Last but certainly not least, the silvers and the whites. I almost didn’t include this section, so my dear readers, consider this a bonus 😊

Similar to the blues, there are structurally many familiar pieces here: fringe dresses, suits, gowns.

Speaking of gowns, the standout piece was a white sleeveless number with a corset bodice.

Like the Midnights dark blue bodysuit, the gown was introduced well into the tour. Specifically, it debuted after Taylor’s drop of The Tortured Poets Department. Quite fittingly, the ruched, draped skirt has album lyrics printed down the sides.

Calling it now: this dress (and several others) will 99.999999% end up in a Taylor Swift museum exhibition one day!

Final thoughts from a fashionably late Swiftie

As much as I overuse the word, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour outfits aren’t just “looks”. They’re the literal fabric of her storytelling. Putting this post together had me recalling memories associated with eras both new and old.

It’s odd to realize how much time has passed, but that’s the essence of an era, isn’t it? It’s not forever and was never meant to be, but Taylor tirelessly brought a bunch back through song, dance, and of course, fashion.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to re-watch the concert movie. Some things never go out of style 😉
